The 2012 Hazardous Waste Collection Schedule is now available for viewing

Tales of Cape Cod will host the eleventh annual Mercy Otis Warren Women of the Year Award ceremony on June 11, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Old Colonial Courthouse, Route 6A, Barnstable.

The award is a marquette of the statue of Mercy Otis Warren which is located on lawn of the Barnstable County Courthouse. The award will be presented to an outstanding woman who meets the following criteria:

 …is a resident of Cape Cod and has demonstrated leadership in the Cape Cod community and has made a significant contribution to any of the following: the arts, education, business, community involvement embracing the ideals of patriotism.

 Brochures with details about this unique and prestigious award will be available at all Cape Cod town halls by March 15, 2012 with a nomination deadline of May 1, 2012. The brochure describes criteria for the award, the guidelines for nomination, and gives highlights of the life of Mercy Otis Warren.

The recipient of the award will be an honored participant in the Independence Day Parade in Barnstable Village.

Vegetation Management on Cape Cod is undertaken by individual residents, local businesses, farmers, golf courses, utilities, corporations, non-profits and others.  The impacts of some of these vegetation management practices on our drinking water and environment are not sufficiently understood.  The mission of this Committee is to develop recommendations for short-term and long-range strategies to reduce or eliminate certain vegetation management practices (including mechanical and chemical applications) that are not known to be safe for Cape Cod drinking water or the environment.
