Barnstable County is the name for the regional government of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Cape Cod is nearly coextensive with, and incorporates all of Barnstable County, which comprises 15 Towns listed below.

*Barnstable is a name that can cause a bit of confusion every now and then. The reason for that is Barnstable (pronounced: BARN-stuh-bul) is not just the name of a County, but it is also the name of a town and a village on Cape Cod.

Bathing Beach Monitoring Program

We sample and analyze over 350 marine and freshwater beaches weekly, which adds up to over 4,300 samples per season. We test the water for two different types of fecal bacteria; Enterococcus in marine water, and E. coli in fresh water. Click here for Bathing Beach Monitoring Program
