Registration is Now Open for Annual Human Rights Awards Breakfast

Theme for 2021 Human Rights Awards Breakfast Honors Wampanoag Nation 

(Barnstable, MA – November 22, 2021)  The Barnstable County Human Rights Advisory Commission (HRAC) will be holding its Annual Human Rights Awards Breakfast virtually on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am.  The public is invited to attend, and registration is now open at https://forms.office.com/g/1R6A2HgySD.

The theme of the event is Honoring the Wampanoag Nation-Keepers of the Earth. 

Human Rights Coordinator Susan Quinones says on the choice for this year’s theme, “The Barnstable County Human Rights Advisory Commission believes that honoring the many contributions of the Wampanoag Nation to Cape Cod is important and long overdue.”

Nominations are still being accepted for Rosenthal Community Award and the Cornerstone Award 

Award recipients of the Rosenthal Community Awardand the Cornerstone Awardwill be honored at the Commission’s annual breakfast. Nominations should include contact information for the individual making the nomination, as well as the nominee, along with an explanation of the reasons for the nomination. The deadline for submitting nominations is close of business on Monday, November 29, 2021.

The Rosenthal Community Champion Award, named after Irving Leopold Rosenthal,  is given to individuals in the public sector (law enforcement, elected officials, etc.) recognized by their peers, community, and associates as individuals who have fostered and supported human rights, concepts, and ideals, particularly those who have worked to advance human rights and to eliminate discrimination against immigrants in Barnstable County.                                       2021 Rosenthal Community Nomination Form

The Cornerstone Award is given to individuals recognized by their peers, community, and associates as those who have fostered and supported human rights, concepts, and ideals.   2021 Cornerstone Award Nomination Form
