Barnstable County Human Rights Advisory Commission Seeks Nominations for Human Rights Awards

Theme for 2021 Human Rights Awards Breakfast Honors Wampanoag Nation

(Barnstable, MA – November 15, 2021) – The Barnstable County Human Rights Advisory Commission (HRAC) will be holding its Annual Human Rights Awards Breakfast virtually on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 8:30 am to 10:30 am.

The theme this year is Honoring the Wampanoag Nation-Keepers of the Earth. U.S. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland is the invited Keynote Speaker.

Award recipients of the Rosenthal Community Award and the Cornerstone Award will be honored at the Commission’s annual breakfast. Nominations should include contact information for the individual making the nomination, as well as the nominee, along with an explanation of the reasons for the nomination. The deadline for submitting nominations is close of business on Monday, November 29, 2021.

The Rosenthal Community Champion Award, named after Irving Leopold Rosenthal,  is given to individuals in the public sector (law enforcement, elected officials, etc.) recognized by their peers, community, and associates as individuals who have fostered and supported human rights, concepts, and ideals, particularly those who have worked to advance human rights and to eliminate discrimination against immigrants in Barnstable County.

The Cornerstone Award is given to individuals recognized by their peers, community, and associates as those who have fostered and supported human rights, concepts, and ideals.
