WHAT IS JOB CORPS? The Job Corps program is a no-cost education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 through 24 improve the quality of their lives through Career Technical and Academic Training. The Job Corps program is authorized by Title I-C of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.

The Job Corps program is for students who are low income or have any barriers to education.  It is designed for students who, for whatever reason, drop out of high school or are planning on it and/or are not college bound.  It is a trade based program where students get hands on training in different fields such as

  • Clinical Medical Assisting
  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Culinary Arts
  • Carpentry (Pre-Apprenticeship program)
  • Plumbing (Pre-Apprenticeship program)
  • Electrical (Pre-Apprenticeship program)
  • Security & Protective services
  • Advanced Manufacturing

They also offer driver’s training, GED or HiSet training and exams, or a high school diploma program.

The program is self-paced and students can either live on campus or commute (if possible).  Students have to meet certain criteria to enroll and an application and an interview is required.
