Notice of Public Review and Comment Period – Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2021-2025 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Amendment 1

The Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has released the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2021-2025 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Amendment 1 for a 21-day public review and comment period. A copy of the document is available for review at the Cape Cod Commission Offices by appointment, by calling 508-362-3828 between 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m, or may be downloaded at www.capecodcommission.org/mpo.

A virtual public meeting of the Cape Cod MPO is scheduled for Monday, April 26, 2021 at 1:00PM to hear public comments and vote for potential endorsement. More information on this meeting can be found at www.capecodcommission.org/mpo or by calling 508-362-3828.

TIP AMENDMENT 1 SUMMARY

The TIP serves as a prioritized listing of roadway, bridge, and transit projects proposed for implementation during the next five (5) federal fiscal years. The FFY 2021-2025 TIP Amendment 1 would allocate $12,528,731 in statewide TIP funds under FFY2021 for the Barnstable – Iyanough Road (Route 28) at Yarmouth Road Intersection Improvement Project (Project #606272). Work on this project consists of intersection reconstruction and traffic signal upgrades. The intent of the project is to improve safety and reduce congestion for all users. New rails, gates and signals will be installed for the rail crossing. A shared use path will be constructed on the west side of Yarmouth Road crossing at Route 28, then connecting to Engine House Road at the entrance to the intermodal center. The total project cost for this project is $26,422,893.
