Sand Shifter

Another project completed!

The Sand Shifter finished dredging operations on Wednesday in Little Bay, Bourne. The last two days of the work brought the Sand Shifter into some very rocky areas having to stop dredging at least once per hour to remove rocks of various sizes that got stuck in the dredge ‘cutter head’ as well as those rocks that made it part way through the pipe getting lodged in the ‘rock box’ (an area where material is collected prior to it getting pushed out through the pipe out of the dredge).

Another pile of rocks!

The rest of the week was spent breaking down the project, preparing the pipe to be moved to the next project, Stage Harbor, Chatham.

Cod Fish II

Another project started!

On Tuesday, one section of pipe (1500 feet) was moved from Provincetown Harbor to Pamet Harbor, Truro for storage, and then on Wednesday the Cod Fish II was moved to Sesuit Harbor, Dennis in advance of the next project there. On Wednesday, the remainder of the pipe from Provincetown (1500 feet) was moved to Sesuit Harbor. Staging continued on Thursday with dredging starting on Thursday afternoon.

The Sesuit Harbor project is an annual one with an estimated 10,000 Cubic Yards of to be removed.

Dredging started in the inner harbor working outward to the end of the breakwater. Depending on the weather, this project should take 12 – 15 days.
