New, Low Cost COVID-19 Test Sites on Cape Cod

December 8, 2020 – Barnstable County, in collaboration with the Cape and Islands Legislative Delegation, Cape Cod Health Care, local fire/EMS, community health centers and municipal leadership, is proud to announce the upcoming launch of two regional COVID-19 testing sites. In addition to taking insurance for participants who have an order from their physician, testing at these sites will be offered at low cost to asymptomatic participants and those who are unable to use insurance.  If an individual or family does not have insurance or the financial means to provide payment, they will still receive a test.

These clinics are not yet operational, however, opening dates will be announced early next week. Here’s what you should know:

— Testing will be held at three locations:

1. Cape Cod Melody Tent – 21 West Main Street, Hyannis (100 appointments per day, open 2-3 days per week; hours to be determined)

2. Barnstable County Fairgrounds – 319 Currier Road, Falmouth (200+ appointments per day, open 7 days per week with shorter weekend hours; hours to be determined)

3. Location and details to be announced

— Testing will be by appointment only. Anyone who arrives without an appointment will be turned away. Cape Cod Healthcare will be conducting the scheduling. Details to follow.

— Interpreter services will be provided by Cape Cod Healthcare for those who require them.

— All sites will perform drive-thru testing using self-administered tests. The testing process will be instructed and witnessed by either county public health nurses, Hyannis Fire Department EMTs or Cape Cod Healthcare Staff. Tests will be analyzed by the Brodt Institute.

— Participants DO NOT have to be symptomatic.

— Testing will be offered at LOW COST to anyone who does not have or is unable to use insurance. A sliding scale will be used for people of limited income. If an individual or family does not have insurance or the financial means to provide payment, they will still receive a test.

Further details will be provided here or on our social media pages as they become available. Please do not call with questions at this time.
