Restoration underway in Barnstable County as storm exits

  • The BCREPC Multi-Agency Coordination Center (MACC) is in operation.
  • No Regional Emergency Shelter System activation is planned at this time.

BARNSTABLE (MA) October 17, 2019 – At its 4 p.m. conference call, the Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee (BCREPC) received an update from electric utility Eversource on its ongoing efforts to restore power to around 30,000 people on the Cape.

Across Cape Cod, a number of roads are still blocked by downed trees, poles, and wires so the process of cutting and clearing must be carried out in order for restoration to begin. Crews from out of state have been deployed and should be arriving on scene on Friday.

Please stay away from downed poles and wires that could be energized and extremely dangerous. Report a power outage online or call 800-592-2000 to report downed wires. Sign-up to receive outage and restoration updates via text, email or phone. By signing up to receive text updates, you’ll also be able to report an outage by text message and receive on-demand updates.

The BCREPC Multi-Agency Coordination Center (MACC) operated by the Barnstable County All Hazards Incident Management Team will continue operations overnight.

No Regional Emergency Shelter System activation is planned at this time.
