Regional Transportation Plan Public Meetings June 3 & 5 Planning for the Future Transportation Needs of Cape Cod

The Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is preparing the 2020 update to the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). A series of public meetings are scheduled for the first week of June 2019, which will build on public input gathered earlier this year through listening sessions, an online survey, and other outreach events.

The RTP is the long-range plan that sets the vision for the region’s transportation system through 2040 and beyond. This round of engagement will gather feedback to prioritize $1.1 billion in funding expected over the next 21 years. The meeting will include discussion of the recently-released Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) Cape Cod Canal Transportation Study draft report. A preliminary draft 2020 RTP and a link to the MassDOT draft report can be found at www.capecodcommission.org/rtp

Public meetings will be held at the following locations at the times listed:

  • PROVINCETOWN: Veterans’ Memorial Community Center (2 Mayflower Street) – Monday, June 3, 2019, 5 p.m.
  • BARNSTABLE: Hyannis Transportation Center (215 Iyannough Road) – Wednesday, June 5, 2019, 10 a.m.
  • SANDWICH: Sandwich Town Hall (130 Main Street) – Wednesday, June 5, 2019, 5 p.m.

Each meeting will begin with a presentation by Cape Cod Commission staff, which is expected to last approximately 30 minutes, followed by an opportunity for questions and comments.

A public meeting of the Cape Cod MPO is scheduled for June 17, 2019, at 1 p.m. to consider the release of a draft 2020 RTP for a 21-day public comment period. The Cape Cod MPO is expected to consider endorsement of the 2020 RTP its meeting scheduled for July 15, 2019, at 1 p.m.
