Human Services Launches New Health and Wellness Website
The Barnstable County Department of Human Services is pleased to announce the launch of a new Web-based platform that converts analysis of all health data into customized community health indicators. This groundbreaking tool is especially valuable for assessment and community health planning.
“As the first Network of Care website in Massachusetts, Barnstable County Department of Human Services is on the forefront of advancing access to a wide variety of data and information about health and wellness,” said Beth Albert, Director of Human Services in Barnstable County. The new Health and Wellness website is a clearinghouse of health indicators, model practices and informational tools for individuals, families, and organizations.
“The launch of the website comes on the heels of the recently announced Prevention and Wellness Trust Fund award to Barnstable County to build a Prevention Self-Management Network,” Albert added. “We are pleased to be able to provide this resource to our community with the goal of improving health outcomes for our residents and creating a healthy, connected Cape Cod.”
Key features of the new Barnstable County Health and Wellness website:
- Provides easy access to vital health information to individuals and families at the ground level.
- Maximizes the value of local, state, and national health data to determine needs and support consumers and communities.
- Equips policy makers and consumers to analyze integrated sets of data and brings complex community-health issues into focus.
- Integrates NACCHO’s Model Practices and CDC Interventions with each Health Indicator to spur positive change.
- Keeps the community in touch with the latest developments via the on-line learning centers; library; daily nationwide news; community calendars; and advocacy tools.
The Department will demonstrate the website for the Barnstable County Commissioners at 2:25 PM on Wednesday February 19, 2014 in the Superior Courthouse Rooms 11/12.
The Network of Care program was developed in partnership with the National Association of County and City Health Officials and the National Association of Counties.
