Let me extend a warm welcome to both residents and visitors of Cape Cod on behalf of myself and my fellow County Commissioners.

Barnstable County is made up of 15 towns that comprise the Cape Cod community. Barnstable County serves as the regional government and provides regional programs which serve all the towns. In this website, you will find links to the towns and information on many of the services Barnstable County offers. I urge you to take the time to look around.

One of the many services we offer is support for the Arts and emphasis on our area as a destination for cultural tourism. The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod is the designated local arts agency for Barnstable County.

Barnstable County takes its role as a steward of the land very seriously and has initiated an aggressive serious of efforts to manage our water quality by the formation of the Cape Cod Water Protection Collaborative. Our hope is that by prudent planning we will make those wise choices that will protect the precious resource that makes Cape Cod the beautiful place that it is.

In addition to my role as County Commissioners, I also serve on the Board of the Regional Transporatation Authority. The recent improvements made in our Public Transportation system are part of the effort to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution resulting from personal vehicles. This summer the RTA introduced the Flex Route service serving the Lower Cape.

For the safety of our community, we have an active Regional Emergency Planning Committee made up of members of health and public safety officials from across the Cape who have put in place communications and working agreements among our Police, Fire and Health officials.

Barnstable County government is working hard to ensure that Cape Cod continues to be a great place to live and a great place to visit.
